Decluttering with Kathi and Make a Simple Difference Every Day

 with Special Guest Becky Keife

Becky will be joining us to talk about not overcomplicating kindness. She will remind us that we don’t have to do huge things or all the things. We only need to offer what we already have to the ones right in front of us.

The Simple Difference: How Every Small Kindness Makes a Big Impact

We’ve all got a lot of questions these days: In a world marked by division, how do we create bridges of meaningful connection? When despair runs rampant, is real hope possible? When competition is elevated, is compassion still relevant? And at the end of the day, can one person really make any impact at all?

When the world’s problems loom large and your ordinary life stretches you thin, it is still possible to be a difference-maker–one small, intentional, extravagant act of kindness at a time.

Rather than telling you to do more, The Simple Difference shows you how to see more: more of the people in front of you, more of God’s lavish love for you, more of his power within you. The Simple Difference will help you

– stop getting buried in busyness and distraction and discover countless opportunities for impact right where you are
– remove your perceived limitations and learn to see that your “not-enough” is exactly what the world needs
– discard expectations of what it takes to make a difference and delight in the life-changing power of simple kindness

The Simple Difference isn’t about totally changing the course of your life; it’s about letting God change you and work through you in the midst of your ordinary days. To say, As I go on my way, Lord, have your way with me. Be a part of The Simple Difference movement–your life and the world will never be the same.

How to Actually Get Organized for Good Part 3

Coming in for the third round of teaching us all things organization are Kathi and Tonya, the organizational queen who gets things done. Really only 10 percent of organization has to do with the frou frou stuff. The other 90 percent can be split into thirds. In the first episode, Kathi and Tonya walked us through the first 30 percent: decluttering the nonsense so we don’t have to touch it again. The second episode covered the next 30 percent and was all about making decisions in advance and bossing our inner child around. Now, in the finale, they’re talking about how to put those decisions into action and showing us:

• We underestimate the fatigue of many little decisions
• How these decisions end up zapping our energy
• What Mr. Rogers has to do with organization

How to Actually Get Organized for Good Part 2

Kathi is back with her buddy Tonya continuing the conversation on how to get organized for good. Last week they helped us discover that decluttering is the first 30 percent. Today the discussion moves into pre-deciding, the second 30 percent. Only a tiny 10 percent make up the part we typically think of when it comes to organization. Listen in to find out about Part 2 of the important 90 percent and how these three principles will help you actually get organized for good:

  • 10 percent is choosing the systems that work for you
  • 30 percent is decluttering
  • 30 percent is pre-deciding

Wondering about the last 30 percent? Be sure to join in next week to find out in Part 3 of How to Actually Get Organized for Good.

How to Actually Get Organized for Good

Kathi is talking with Tonya Kubo today, and they’re cracking the case on perhaps the most common topic in Clutter Free Academy: just how in the world do we get more organized? Organization is really about getting ahead and thinking about where things will be when we need them. Kathi simplifies this process by reminding us that everything has a cost of space, time, energy, or money. Then she helps us prioritize the systems and things we really need in this season, teaching us about the first 30% of organization:

  • Don’t let it into the house
  • Kick it back into play
  • Lessen the amount of things we manage
