An uplifting Easter e-mail conversation between me and my assistant Monica after she finished a BIG project for me:
Monica: “The world is so much more manageable in your pajamas and with a junk food dinner. Now all I need is some chocolate.”
Kathi: “You must have some chocolate SOMEWHERE in the house?!?”
Monica: “Oh there is chocolate around the house, I’m just restraining myself from going to Coldstone since I found a coupon. Wouldn’t be a good match with the first week at the gym.”
Monica: “I broke into the Hershey Kisses, the bakers chocolate is next. I realized that iIshouldn’t leave the house to get ice cream if I’m was too busy to go to small group.”
Kathi: “Dude – don’t go to the baker’s chocolate. That’s hard core and there is no going back. That will just lead to you snorting cocoa powder, and then mainlining Hershey sauce. Don’t want to see you on the mean streets of Watsonville offering to create church flyers in exchange for biting the ears off of an chocolate Easter bunny. Just say no.”
Kathi: “We are sick. I’m putting this up on the blog.”
Monica: “So what I pretty much just heard you say was I should go to CVS and buy a chocolate bunny and eat the ears off of it so you can have a picture for the blog? If I must help you in that way I guess I can. And if you insist I get malted milk robins eggs I will…just to support you.”
And employee of the month goes to: MONICA

Yep – this is how I’ve looked for the past two weeks (OK – not so blond, not so skinny, and not so showered…)
I have been typing like a mad woman on the book, so that is why the blog has been so pickin’ quiet. Thanks to everyone who has sent me notes of encouragement of prayer and just plain old cheering me on.
On Monday – I will be starting back in to blogging on a pretty regular basis, because, I have a new book to write and I’m going to need your help.
You see, this summer I will be working on… The “What’s For Dinner?” Project!
I know – how cool is that? And it’s all your fault!
The VP of editorial for Harvest House Publishers and I are Facebook friends, and she couldn’t help but notice that every time I posted something about food, y’all couldn’t help but jump it! I am so excited about this book, I can hardly stand it.
So starting on Monday, we are going to meet back here and talk about food – a lot. (This should be interesting with me doing Weight Watchers and all.)

How do you make a lesson memorable?
I am writing an article on how do you make the lessons you teach memorable. (I have a newsletter that I send to church leaders with this as the featured article. If you are a church leader and don’t recieve this, let me know at kathi at kathilipp.com and I will add you to the list!) I want to offer some additional ideas and that is where you come it.
Whether you are a Sunday School teacher, a Bible Study Leader, a Youth worker, or someone who has been under some good teaching, I would love to hear what lessons made an impact. Please share your ideas in the comments – and of course – it wouldn’t be a Kathi Lipp blog project without a prize! I will be giving away my booklet 50 Ways to Love Your Project on Purpose Everyone who submits an idea by Thursday at 6:00 will be entered.
And, if you are a teacher – here is one of the many great ideas, shared by Deanna Luke, that has already been shared:

Oranges make a great lesson on sharing. You consider how many students you have…take the fewest number of oranges to class that willl section out so each student will get a section of orange. Tell them you want to share but only have (3 or how many it will take) oranges. You talk about how much you like to share as you peel each of the oranges. Then breaking it into sections you start passing them out. The students suddenly see there are many ways to share.
It has actually worked in a church filled with adults who were at an impasse over something petty. I love it!!!

So today I am one of the authors featured on Super Agent Rachelle Gardner’s Blog as an author she spent a long time (ten years) building my platform before publishing a book.
I would like to tell my second grade teacher, Mrs. Green – who wrote on my report card, “Kathy has trouble staying focused on her work and tends to share with her neighbor,” Hmmm – seems like I AM able to stay on task. And as far as sharing with my neighbor? I now get paid to talk. Just saying.
And we have a winner! Thanks to all of you who shared so brilliantly in Friday’s Post about a time that God showed up for you in a real way. Friday’s winner is Dana! Dana – please e0mail me with your address so we can get your book shipped off to you!

My genius friend Cindi McMenamin (see her words of wisdom to me in this post,) has allowed me to give away one of her latest books When Women Walk Alone 30 Day Devotional.
Cindi’s 31 days of encouragement and blessings for women is just the right size to tuck in your purse or glove compartment for an on-the-spot pick-me-up any time of the day. Discover God’s love for you and his abundant grace.
In order to be entered into the drawing, I want you to bless the rest of us. I shared on Monday how God showed up when I was feeling week – I would love for you to share a time when God showed up for you. It could be as simple as a friend calling at just the right time with a word of encouragement, or a new sense of peace in a situation that has been feeling out of control.
Check out Cindi’s website here.
Enter by Friday at 6 PM PST and I will announce the winner on Monday.

Is it all just too much sometimes?
I felt that way back in January as I was preparing to launch my new talk for The Marriage Project. you may remember that the day before I was to present that talk for the first time, our row of townhouses caught on fire.
After being relieved that everyone was OK, my next thought was, “How am I going to finish this speech?” (Now if you’re thinking, “Wow, it is the day before your speech and everything is not neatly wrapped up, printed, and put into a labeled folder?” Well, you and I can’t be friends.)
The night before, I called in the cavalry. I wrote to a bunch of my speaker friends and asked for prayer.
And they prayed. Oh how they prayed.
I went and spoke and it was a Jesus-is-the-only-one-who-could-pull-it-off kind of morning.
After speaking, two people booked Roger and I to come and speak at their groups. Right while I was standing there. Several women came up and talked to me about how the message hit them right where they were struggling in their own marriages. It was a morning that only our Maker could pull off.
When I reported this back to my prayer peeps, my friend (and fellow Harvest House author) Cindi McMenamin sent me and my fellow speakers this reply:
Kathi (and her praying friends):
Your experience paralleled what I read this morning from J.I. Packer’s “Rediscovering Holiness”: “The Pattern is that the Lord first makes us conscious of our weakness so that our heart cries out, “I can’t handle this.” We go to the Lord to ask him to remove the burden that we feel is crushing us. But Christ replies: “In my strength you can handle this, and in answer to your prayer, I will strengthen you to handle it.” Thus in the end our testimony, like Paul’s is: “I can do everything through him who gives me strength.” …For only at the point where the insufficiency of natural strength is faced, felt, and admitted does divine empowering begin.”
God was truly strong in your weakness. Way to go, girl. Way to go, God!
Love, Cindi
Doesn’t that just kill you?
“For only at the point where the insufficiency of natural strength is faced, felt, and admitted does divine empowering begin.”
Do you feel ashamed of your weakness? Of your feelings of being overwhelmed? I need to recognize and face my insufficiency every single day, admit it and ask God for His empowerment.
What area do you need to feel His strength today?
