Melissa K. Norris

Hey, there, I’m Melissa K. Norris. I’m just a plain country girl who loves Jesus, playing in the dirt, stuffing food into Mason jars (after I wash my hands of course), and hunting down as many traditional old-fashioned skills as I can to put into use on our homestead.

Occasionally I chase down a chicken and I’ve been known to wrangle a cow or two back into the pasture when they get the hankering to leave our field.

Visit www.MelissaKNorris.com for heirloom gardening, preserving the harvest (all forms of canning, dehydrating, and any other way to preserve food at home), raising critters aka livestock, from scratch cooking, frugal living, and any other kind of old-fashioned skill I come across and am determined to master.

P.S. I love to chat, so you can visit with me and listen to my podcast at www.MelissaKNorris.com/podcast

WHY: There are lots of great reasons to do your study online. Here are just a few:

  • This is easy study format, and you can participate as much or as little as you like. Twice a week, you’ll get a lesson in your email box by subscribing here, and you can join the private Facebook page here for more interaction.
  • You’ve got an irregular schedule because of work, kids, appointments, or other interruptions. You can do an online study on your own time–right on schedule with the group or at your own slower pace.
  • You’re mobility is limited, and you’re at home. This is a way to connect with other women right in your living room.
  • This is a safe place to build relationships with others while maintaining your privacy. You can share freely without fear of judgement. Authenticity is a cornerstone of my book, and I was very vulnerable in writing. I hope it makes you feel free to be your truest self too.
  • This is a super-easy way to lead a small group. The group can meet together once a week to discuss your personal take-aways, but I’ll lead the weekly assignments. If you’d like to have a Leader’s Guide with tips, videos, and a schedule for leading your group, click here to purchase it.

Episode #208-Dineen Miller and Lynn Donovan and The Ultimate Resource Guide for (trying to be) Awesome Wives

Are you married to a non-Christian? Do you have friends that are?

For the Husband Project, I really want women to see God active in their marriages whether they have a pre-believing spouse or a believing spouse.

That is why I am speaking with Dineen Miller and Lynn Donovan who co-wrote the book Winning Him Without Words: 10 Keys to Thriving in Your Spiritually Mismatched Marriage and host the website Spiritually Unequal Marriage. In this episode we will gain wisdom of what we can do for our husbands regardless of whether or not he is a believer and how we can be a better friend to those who are married to non-Christian husbands.

Another great book Dineen and Lynn wrote is Not Alone: Trusting God to Help You Raise Godly Kids in a Spiritually Mismatched Home.

WARNING: NOT FOR LITTLE EARS. WE ARE TALKING ABOUT ADULT CONTENT IN THIS EPISODE

Did you think we would have The Husband Project and NOT talk about sex? Of course not. So I brought in our resident sex-pert, Sheila Wray Gregoire, to share her wisdom.

As the author of the book The Good Girl’s Guide to Great Sex: (And You Thought Bad Girls Have All the Fun) and creator of the website To Love, Honor and Vacuum, Sheila has done the research and can answer the most commonly asked questions that I hear (and all the others that I DON’T hear.)

So, put the earbuds in to listen if the kids are around because we are about to have some serious girl talk!

Episode #206-Nicki Koziarz and The Ultimate Resource Guide for (trying to be) Awesome Wives

Episode 206: Don't Quit Nicki Koziarz

Not all marriages are “created” equal. Sometimes circumstances, situations, unexpected turns in life and things both in and out of our own control can make our marriages less than ideal.

In this episode, I speak with Nicki Koziarz from Proverbs 31 Ministries, who even admits that the project had its challenges, but as the author of 5 Habits of a Woman Who Doesn’t Quit, Nicki knows the key to getting past her feelings to the reward of reaping what she sows. Both Nicki and I have gone through quite a bit in our marriages and we know the beauty of never quitting. So if you aren’t sure you even WANT to do The Husband Project Online Bible Study, please listen in for some encouragement.
