I am going to write a thank you note to a coworker.
My daughter was having a very bad week, I called and ordered her special hair scrunchies from a favorite website. Took all of 3 minutes, but she’ll get them this week and be SOOOO excited!
LOVED this idea of keeping it simple and taking action! I am indecisive, so I end up being paralyzed with inaction!! My parents are working through some big health crises, so my “to do” is to find little, tangible ways to love them and serve them. Also, to look for people in need in my path and be ready to respond!
This podcast was so good! I have said that “I don’t do unless I overdo” which means nothing gets done! I don’t know why I think I have to make gestures so grandiose. After I’m done typing I am just emailing a colleague who has missed some work to see how she is doing instead of making a card, finding her address etc.! Thanks for the great reminders and inspiration!
I am going to re-examine when I try to go ‘over-the-top” in my acts of kindness. Thank you, both,, for this discussion. I appreciated the comment about giving big and pressure to respond big in thank you. Indebtedness. I want to reassess my plans. I also appreciate the idea of being where your feet are. When I was young, many years ago, at a certain time in the day, my world was limited by the four walls of my home. Now, I can be anywhere in the world 24 hours a day. Bring where my feet are helps me in choosing to turn off worldwide access and interacting with what is before me.
When I have extra food for a meal, I’ll invite my sister in law over with her kiddos, so she doesn’t have to cook!

I want to show grace to students who are going through hard times and meet them where they are while trying to better understand their needs.
Such great reminders! I have the best job! I get to supervise the mailroom at a small Christian university, which gives me the privilege of connecting with some amazing students! Each day I have many opportunities to show kindness. Often times I am made aware of ways a student needs prayer. I add a colorful reminder to my desk/computer screen, but I would like to make it a point to take the time to send the student a note of encouragement to remind them I’m praying.
I am going to try to do household tasks for my husband on weeks that he is very busy!
My sister is the greatest example of this. Wherever she goes, she says to the clerk, janitor, VIP, or whoever: “Thank you for coming to work today”. It is so much a part of her, that when she was leaving the hospital where her husband had just died, she said to the security person, “Thank you for coming to work today.”
Oh my goodness I love all these examples!! I needed these simple reminders because I too want to do all the very special things and end up doing nothing!! With a chronic illness it’s so hard to do what I’d like, I’m going to do small things that I can do!!! Thank you!! Love this podcast!!! God bless you both and your ministry!!!
I am going to try to “be where my feet are” when I am sitting at the various sport practices I am at. I am guilty of just being in my own world so I am going to look up and see who is around to show kindness to.
