Those of us who are the most creative also are usually the ones who have the hardest time finding our tools to get our genius on. In this bonus episode of Clutter Free Academy, join Kathi as she chats with author of Simple Organizing Melissa Michaels as she discusses the key to being organized and creative at the same time (it really is possible)!
Melissa is the New York Times Best Selling author and super blogger at The Inspired Room. She has dedicated much of her time to making sure that we can live with order and structure, but still have a house that reflects who you are.
In this info-filled interview, you will learn how to
• make the most of the space you have
• understanding when to display what you love and when to contain the clutter
• stop feeling overwhelmed by your stuff
I’m thrilled to have Melissa on the podcast – so buckle up those kiddos, grab your phone and let’s dive in.

Special thanks to Melissa for joining me this week. Next week you’ll want to come back because we have Ruth Chou Simons of Gracelaced joining the podcast!
I used an old diaper changing table with shelves as a wrapping station. I bought different sized bins to hold paper, bags, and bows and small boxes. It greatly helps at gift wrapping time, but the rest of the time the top holds my Sunday school supplies or even is used as a temporary holding place for stuff….so I have to get that in control, but it contained and protected most of my wrapping supplies. I see now, I need to curate within the boxes a bit to make it more usable.
Love having work stations and totes with labels. I try to do this with areas that frustrate me the most.
Oh my, I was listening to this episode while I was ironing some clothes. And it inspired me to get working on my closet shelves, which have been on my todo list for a few weeks. A few hours later my closet shelves had been decluttered and tidied and looked wonderful. Was sending pictures to a friend. Thanks for the inspiration.
What a sweetheart. What most resonated with me was the clothes. Let go, let go and trust that if you need something it will be provided. With Kathi’s books I was able to get rid of, donate, everything that didn’t fit. Everything! I threw out any damaged or stained clothes. It was so freeing.
