There are so many cool things about my fellow author Arlene Pellicane…
- She is a Harvest House author
- She was featured on HGTV for a bedroom makeover for her son (I didn’t know real people actually got on HGTV…)
- She’s smart, funny, and adorable
Oh – and she has this amazing, real life for real women book
Book: 31 Days to a Younger You: No Surgery, No Diets, No Kidding (Harvest House)
Here’s all about it:
In the next 31 days, how would you like to:
• Be thinner and more attractive
• Wake up with excitement for life
• Have more energy to do what you want
• Update your wardrobe without looking like you’re trying too hard
• Improve your relationship with your spouse, children, family, and friends
• Master daily habits that improve the quantity and quality of your days
I was at SeaWorld with my children and I had to laugh at something my daughter Noelle did when she was two in the bathroom. As we were leaving, she stopped right in front of the full length mirror. Looking at herself intently from head to toe, she exclaimed with attitude, “Good!” Not sure of what I heard, I asked her, “Noelle, did you just say that you look good?” With a broad smile on her face, she said “Yes!”
What a crack up! I’m glad my 2-year-old has a positive self image! I wondered if the women I knew could say the same thing. Friend, when you look in a full length mirror and see yourself from head to toe, do you think “good”? Looking and feeling younger is about accepting your appearance, embracing your God given age, and doing your best to improve your assets. After all, when the Heavenly Father looks at you, His daughter, He proclaims “Good!”
So the next time you catch a glimpse of yourself in the mirror, don’t forget to smile. You are a luminous work in progress. Beauty has no age limit or expiration date.
An energetic speaker and author, Arlene Pellicane has been featured on The Hour of Power, The 700 Club, and Turning Point with Dr. David Jeremiah. Her book, 31 Days to a Younger You: No Surgery, No Diets, No Kidding helps women become more beautiful from the inside out.
To win, all you have to do is leave a comment about some way you want to be a healthier you in the next 31 days. Me? I’m doing pilates for a minimum of 10 minutes a day (doesn’t seem like much? That’s five more hours of pilates than I was doing two months ago…)
Leave your comment below and Friday I’ll announce the winner!
OH – and check out her very cool site here.
I will get on that treadmill in my living room! Thanks!
I will commit to praying and giving every day to Him. When I start my days right, life just seems to go a little better and I have more patience when things do not go according to my plan. 🙂
I commit to being grateful everyday and going to bed early enough, by 11:00, so I can count those blessings.
I am a mother of 3 adult children & 1 teenager, with three still at home. I just got remarried in October, after being a single mom for 10 years, and it has been more work than it thought it would be. I could use a BIG pick me up. Something for myself. As with other moms, I give to everyone else but myself. Also, I have gained 15 pounds since the wedding. The book sounds awesome!
I commit to laughing more. I need to smile and laugh every day. I need to write more. I have put aside my passion for the immediate needs of those around me and have gotten out of the habit. I want to make taking care of me an immediate need. I can’t wait to read that book.
This sounds like a really great book. I am the mother of 2 year old twin boys and I need all the help that I can get. Hehehe.
This sounds like a great book! I need to drink more water, lose weight…the list goes on!
I’m one of those women who knows the value of staying hydrated–and then I drink maybe 8 ounces of water every 24 hours–instead of 8 cups of water every 24 hours!
So I want to quench my thirst and drink more water! Living in Colorado–the land of zero humidity–this is a must-do!
Great comments everyone! I love the “I want” “I will” “I commit to” – this is how we get started! Way to go ladies – you’ve made my day! Love to all of you!
I just need to move more (walk around the neighborhood, ride my bike, run with the kids). Now that the weather is above freezing I have no excuses!!
I am committed to adding five more minutes per workout on the stairmaster – already do 25 four days a week. 🙂
I’m committed to trying to embrace a new type of life that is coming my way. That sounds pretty vague but it means something to me!
I will walk 4 days a week, for 20 min.
I am going to do some form of exercise every day and not snack after dinner.
I want to get stronger. I’ve injured my shoulder and I know its because I don’t do any strength training. I have a 2,7,& 11 year olds so walking is hard to squeeze in but I have started doing some situps and push ups and want to add some weights two times a week.
I’m going to eat more “real” food instead of processed food.
sleep is what I sacrifice an is probably most important in my overall well being. I want to get to sleep by 11:00.
I committ to eat breakfast everyday and have a cup of coffee OR a diet coke – not both!
And to smile more!
Lots has happened this year, some not so good….I’ve been a little down and need the motivation to care for my health. I have started by organizing my home and working on time management….My new goal has been to serve dinner by 5pm. and avoid eating anything after 6pm. I also need to commit to include breakfast in my daily diet. Being mommy of three….Breakfast is often forgotten and or skipped.
Ok, here goes…I will commit to eating three baby carrots and two broccoli florets before I start in on the main part of lunch or dinner. I really need to increase my vegetable intake. Maybe that will also help me eat less of the bad stuff.
I commit to walking my Dachshund, Cooper every day! Not only will it help me but he can definitely benefit with some exercise himself 🙂
I want to try to eat better for a start and start walking so I can move up to some faster paced exercises. Even if I have to put on my shoes and hold a pedometer in mid July I will walk/jog through the house to avoid heat stroke in AZ. (I’m sure my cats will think it’s a game of chase and get in on the action too.)
First, i want the gosh darned cold to end!!! I rarely get sick, but when I do, pow!!
I have a wedding to attend and I don’t want a pookie belly. Sooooo I am cutting back on refined sugar (good bye pepsi) and my daughter wants me to walk with her after dinner each day. Oh, And I commited to pull weeds for 15 minutes everyday. Trust me, that’s a lot of work for me!! 🙂
I would like to commit to something small but I need to get this book or something to get me out of the rut I’m in now. I do have something in common with the author my little ones are 1, 3, and 4, and surviving each day is all I manage to do. Ok, so here goes, I commit to getting dressed before breakfast every day. (As I sit here in my pj’s and it is after lunch, ok I’ll start tomorrow, really)
I plan to go to the gym at least 3 times a week. I’ve already been twice this week and it’s only Wed.! Not bad!
I want to commit to remembering to take my vitamins everyday!!
I want to commit to drinking 2 glasses of water before each meal. This Bakersfield resident needs hydration!
🙂 Amberly
