I know it comes as no surprise to you that I believe one of the most powerful ways for a woman to love and support her husband is to pray for him – so that is what I’m asking you to do today – but putting some power behind those prayers by putting some scripture into it.
Here are some of my favorite scriptures to pray for Roger:
Philippians 4:6
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
1 Peter 5:7
Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
So for today’s drawing of the GREAT book THE 150 MOST IMPORTANT BIBLE VERSES, just tell me in the comments what scripture you would pick to pray for your husband. (And if you want to use one of the ones above, that is just fine and dandy…)
The Scripture I love to pray for my husband is Colossians 1:9-10: I continually pray that Walt will be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that he would walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;
He’s in a situation right where clear knowledge of God’s will is what he needs most.
Hi,
I like the idea of praying for my husband to be open to God’s leading. Not coincidentally, it’s a good reminder to me that I’m not in charge of deciding all the stuff that he (my husband) needs to work on. God and I can work on “my stuff”, and I can trust God to work with my husband on “his stuff”.
Psalm 37:23 “the steps of the godly are directed by the Lord; he delights in every detail of their lives”.
I notice it doesn’t say the steps of the godly are directed by their well-intentioned (but not omnipotent) wives, who sometimes get caught up in the details (er, shortcomings) of their lives.
GREAT IDEA TO SHARE SCRIPTURES…
I pray for my husband the following:
Psalm 37:3-7
3 Trust in the LORD and do good;
dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.
4 Delight yourself in the LORD
and he will give you the desires of your heart.
5 Commit your way to the LORD;
trust in him and he will do this:
6 He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn,
the justice of your cause like the noonday sun.
7 Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him;
do not fret when men succeed in their ways,
when they carry out their wicked schemes.
