So you’ve decided to do it. You are going to get rid of 2014 Things in 2014. Or maybe you’re feeling super desperate, and in addition to the 2014 Things, you are also getting rid of one thing for every thing you bring in.
I’ll be honest – I was shocked at the response to this challenge. I’m thrilled that so many of you are making living with less a priority in 2014. Welcome to the madness that is living lighter.
After posting the challenge the number one question I got was “How do I keep track?”
Well our team has been busy pulling together some forms for you to use to help you stay on track for the next twelve months. But if none of these forms are to your liking, feel free to use a notepad, the back of an envelope, any way that will make it easier for you.
2014 Things – For those of you taking on the big challenge of getting rid of 2014 Things in 2014, this is the tracker for you! You can either print it out, (PDF) or keep track on your computer (EXCEL). Either way, you’re a superstar because you’re getting rid of the things that are dragging you down. (If you are printing this out, consider doing it double sided as it’s 41 pages!)
In and Out – Maybe you just want to make sure you don’t accumulate more than you started with. Or you need to go hard core and not only get rid of 2014 Things, but make sure you don’t shop your way back to the same place at the start of 2015. Here is the In and Out Sheet – for everything you bring in, something else must go out. If you are doing both challenges, that’s called being All In. (Only do the All In option if your clutter makes you cry on a regular basis or you fantasize about leaving your house and starting over.)
The Super Geek – Created by my husband Roger – this is for the analytic in you. If you get a thrill with charts and graphs, this is the plan for you.
All of these can be downloaded on the 2014 Things Challenge Home Page.
We can do this!!!
t realize that once they stop they will regain all the weight.
Again, everybody is different, so you should try to learn which foods for IBS be right for you and those that don’t.
One of the hardest things to achieve while trying to
lose weight is staying motivated.
Going through the bathroom wasn’t a breeze but I got rid of all the extra creams, shampoos, soaps, etc. many were so old that they were dried up. The hardest part was getting rid of all the newborn baby items I got from the hospital over 2 years ago when my son was born, but they were utterly useless and now I have clean organized cabinets and the towels are cleaned up to only the ones we use…Wahooo this is great!
I’m trying to find one area at a time to focus on, and then keeping a mentally tally as I go through the day. For recording, I’m just going to use one of those free pocket calendars that came from the DAV at the end of the year. I’m putting it in my bathroom to record the total number of things that went out during that day. Then I’ll tally at the end of the week and the end of a month to keep a running total!
I know 2014 things sounds like a lot…but even as I went through my medicine cabinet, I found old barrettes that I haven’t used in over a decade. There went four items…so little, and yet they counted towards the total!
And I need all the help I can get with clearing out the clutter that gathers daily on my kitchen counter! It usually is where things end up when a decision can’t be made on something…and then it just seems to suck in everything around it. Would love to hear some other ideas of how others tame the paper/project clutter that gathers on their kitchen countertops!
In order to keep it as simple as possible, I’m opting to just put a check mark on my family calendar hanging in the kitchen every day. Thanks, Kathi!
LOVE IT!!!! I’m going Excel, as I am famous for “losing” paper (ie, it gets buried under some of the very 2014 items that will be heading OUT the front door). I love Roger’s graph idea… Woo hoo for the visual learners amongst us. I would also love to post, share, and laugh at photos of some of the “stuff” we hang on to 🙂 A prize for the best “wow, I feel better now because at least I didn’t have one of “THOSE” hanging around my house” photo, perhaps?
Ooh, ooh, ooh, I see the little picture icon below… yay!! Shall we post our piles, so to speak?
I am such a visual person so these tracking sheets and charts are just what I have been looking for. Over the last couple of days my husband and I were trying to figure out how we were going to keep track. Thanks for the tools!! 🙂
