I Need Some Help Here! Hope for When Your Kids Don't Go According to Plan

Seriously, I love this book. Like, love-love and the reason is simple: it's given me permission to exhale…to breathe again…to relax!

Maybe I should explain.

See, I'm a mom who worries--the type of mom who's anxious all the time, overwhelmed easily, and slightly frazzled when it comes to the kids I'm raising. I'm also a mom who parents in fear…fear of what my kiddos' futures might look like, and what my children will turn into. I'm afraid at failing…at getting a big ole "F" in the most important job I've been given: motherhood.

"I need Some Help Here," by Kathi Lipp is just what I needed to silence my doubts and deal with my struggles. Kathi's encouragement, humor, bad mama moments, stories from the trenches, and prayers, had me laughing (out loud), nodding in agreement, tearing up, and exhaling a huge sigh of relief. She let me know that on this journey, I'm not alone, and for a mama like me, it's exactly what I needed to hear.

For any parent who ever woke up in the middle of the night terrified that they had ruined their child, take heart! Kathy shoots straight about the real woes of parenting, but she shares the hope and joy as well. I appreciated the honesty of the parents who shared their struggles, rejoicing with some and crying with others. From toddlers to teens and young adults, all parents will find the help they're looking for in these pages.

It's time we start talking about the underbelly of parenting. Our kids aren't perfect. Sometimes they choose to sleep with their boyfriends before marriage. Sometimes they run from God. We aren't perfect. We push too hard, or lose sight of the fact that God loves our children immeasurably more than we can fathom.

Thank you Kathi Lipp for showing me that I am not alone as a mom and that my parenting journey may be messy at times, but it is also beautiful.

I really and truly loved this book. There are some things you may have heard before and you may think you know it in your head, but this book helps refresh truth in your heart. I so appreciated that the author was real and that she wrote as someone who has been there, someone who isn't just sharing advice, very sound advice, but is sharing her mother's heart as well. I also felt that this was a book that could speak to a mother of children of any age. It gave me, as a young mother, a new perspective for how I view my children now and helped me store up wisdom for moving into the many years ahead of me.

Even after raising 22 kids I must say I enjoyed and was inspired by Kathi Lipp's book "I need Some Help Here." Kathi combines both humor and wisdom as she writes on some of the most challenging days we may encounter as parent. Most importantly she puts god into the equation which brings some sanity to parenting.
